Well we have far too many pictures to post so here is an overview of what we did and saw on our trip.
First off we stopped by the Idaho Falls temple since we were in the area. It was closed while we were there but we were only stopping by to see it. You can see a little guy up on the spire working on it. It was beautiful and we enjoyed the stop. The River and the falls are right behind the temple so it makes the whole area beautiful and peaceful.
Next we stopped by the Rexburg Temple. By the way this was our first time to these cities. This temple was beautiful as well and I was amazed that it was pretty much located on BYU-Idaho's campus. So we got to look over the campus while we were there as well.
The next day we finally got to the park. The first wildlife we saw when we got to the park was a bald eagle, sorry I have no pictures. Then we spotted (Kristie spotted) two elk on the side of the road next to a picnic area so we pulled over for a closer picture. Here they are on the other side of the stream.
We stopped for lunch at a little picnic spot somewhere in the park and we had a few little friends that came to join us. Here is a picture of one.
We were traveling down the road headed toward old faithful and the hotpots when we encountered a traffic jam. I leaned out the window to see what the hold up was and as you can see we had a buffalo as a pace car. There was a Yellowstone tour bus at the front and he would not pass the buffalo for anything so for a half an hour we followed this buffalo down the road at his pace until he finally found a bit of grass that was adequate to wander into.
There were a great many hot pools to see at Yellowstone. But my favorite one was sapphire pool. It had the most brilliant color of any of the pools.
Here is old faithful in all its glory. I remember going to old faithful as a kid and couldn't understand why it was called old faithful because it was late and we had to wait for it. Well it didn't disappoint me this time it was 15 min late this time too.
Here we are in the car on the way home. I think I was bored and thought I would take a picture of the three of us in the car. Savannah had had enough by this point and was fast asleep. There are many more things here at this park that are noteworthy and memorable, but we will leave them for you all to discover when you go to Yellowstone.
